Select Kitchen Stories

Write for us

We welcome pitches that help readers see food, cooking and shared meals with fresh eyes. Select Kitchen Stories is interested in clear, original ideas with a distinct focus, a lively voice and enough context to make the subject useful beyond the moment.

What we are looking for

Propose essays and explainers about kitchen craft, ingredients, food history, food customs or the meaning of meals. Strong ideas begin with a specific question and show why the answer matters to a curious general reader. We value thoughtful comparisons, overlooked details and well-framed stories that respect regional and cultural differences.

Make the pitch specific

Send a short outline describing the central idea, the reader takeaway and why you are suited to develop it. Include the proposed format and any important sources or context the piece would need. Please tell us whether the work has been published or offered elsewhere. A finished article is not needed for an initial proposal.

How to submit

Send proposals through the Contact page and choose the editorial option. Please do not include confidential information or send a complete draft unless requested. We cannot promise a response time or acceptance, but a focused pitch is easier to assess than a broad offer to write about food.

Our point of view

A good meal has more than one story

We look beyond recipes to the ingredients, skills, histories and shared habits that make food meaningful.
